Choral
Workshop An
open workshop was held on May 6th 2017 at Wolverhampton Grammar School. **************************** On Sunday, 3rd October, 2010 the choir enjoyed a training day with JEREMY JACKMAN, who was, for around 10 years, the counter-tenor in the King's Singers. In addition, he used to arrange and write music for them. Today, he conducts, composes music, teaches singing, runs his own group 'The Jay Singers', in Norfolk, and is MD of the 'Cecilian Singers' in Leicester. He is very much in demand for running workshops on choral singing as can be seen from these comments:- 'You gave us a wonderful day yesterday! All those hints and the way you made us feel one unit, everything was brilliant and fun. We felt that you managed to establish contact with every single singer and I will never forget how you 'oozed' music when we sang the charissimi for the last time. It was an unforgettable moment'. If you would like to check him out, his web site is; www.jeremyjackman.co.uk On the October day, Jeremy worked the Midlands Chorale hard, both with music known and unknown. New warm-up techniques were introduced and different strategies for rehearsing were explored. By the end of the day, the choir felt that it had learnt a lot and all fully endorsed the above comments from other choirs. The hope for the future is to have another day workshop and this time, perhaps, to open it up to more than just choir members. **************************** On
Saturday 7th February 2009, Midlands Chorale organised a Choral
Workshop under the direction of Richard Laing. |
